How does communication work?

Antlercrafterz is a small family business. Nate handcrafts the grips, and Amber handles most customer communication while checking with Nate on custom questions.
Some questions are quick to answer. Others require us to look closely at your firearm model, photos, grip frame, material request, or custom details before giving you an accurate answer. Because of that, response times can vary. Sometimes we can respond quickly, and sometimes it may take a few days.
We are not ignoring you. We would rather take a little more time and give you a thorough, accurate answer than rush and tell you something wrong.
If you’re concerned that we may have missed your message, feel free to follow up.

 

Are all Antlercrafterz grips custom made?

Yes. All Antlercrafterz grips are handcrafted to order and made for your selected firearm model.
Because we work with natural materials, every set is unique. Color, bark, texture, grain, and pattern will vary from one set to another.

 

Do you make grips for my firearm?

We make custom grips for many popular revolvers and pistols, and we are adding more models over time.
The best place to start is our current model list on the website. If you do not see your model listed, you can still reach out and ask. Some models may be possible with custom fitting, while others may not be something we currently offer.
When asking about fit, please include:

• Firearm make and model

• Grip frame type, if known

• Clear photos of your current grips and/or grip frame

• Any special features, such as an ambidextrous safety, magwell cut, round butt/square butt frame, or other variation

Grip fit can vary even when model names sound similar, so photos are very helpful.

 

How do I know which grip frame or model I have?

Some firearms have very similar model names but different grip frames. This is especially common with revolvers.
If you are unsure, send us clear photos of:

• Both sides of your current grips

• The grip frame with the grips removed, if possible

• Any model markings on the firearm

• Any original box label or paperwork, if available

We will do our best to help guide you, but in some cases we may need the grip frame or original grips in hand to confirm fit.

 

Do I need to send my original grips or grip frame?

It depends on the model and the type of fit needed.
For some models, we already have the gun or grip frame to use for fitting and do not need your original grips or grip frame. For other models, custom fitting may require your original grips, your grip frame, or both.
For Colt and Ruger models, we can provide the most accurate fit when we have your grip frame in hand. Without the grip frame, some final fitting adjustments may be needed.
As a general guide:

• Common listed models: We may not need anything sent in.

• Colt SAA and clones as well as Freedom Arms: Dimensions can vary greatly, so we prefer to have the grip frame in hand for custom fitting.

• Models with fit variations: Photos may be enough to confirm.

• Custom or less common models: We may need your grip frame or original grips.

• Knife scales or highly custom work: We usually need the item in hand to ensure proper fit.

If we need something sent in, we will let you know before production begins.

 

Can I send my own antler, horn, bone, or material?

Sometimes, yes.
If you have your own material you would like us to use, contact us first. Not all material is large enough, stable enough, or shaped correctly for grip making.
Please send photos and approximate dimensions before shipping anything. We can let you know if it looks usable.

 

What materials do you offer?

Available materials may vary, but common options include:

• Elk antler

• Moose antler

• Stabilized giraffe bone

• Bighorn sheep horn

• Stabilized wood

• Other specialty materials when available

Each material has natural variation. Color, bark, texture, grain, and pattern will not be identical from one set to another.

 

Can I choose the look of my grips?

You can request a general look, and we will do our best to get close.
Common requests include:

• Lighter coloring

• Darker coloring

• More bark

• Less bark

• More white

• More character

• Smoother look

• More porous or natural texture

• A look similar to a past example photo

Because we work with natural materials, we cannot guarantee an exact match. Each set is one of a kind, but we can select material that gets as close as possible to your desired look.

 

Can you make my grips look like a photo I saw?

We can use example photos as inspiration, but we cannot duplicate natural material exactly.
If there is a past set you like, send the photo and let us know what you like about it — color, bark, shape, texture, contrast, or overall style. That helps us understand your preference.

 

Do you offer medallions?

Yes, medallions may be available for some grip sets depending on the model.
Common options may include gold or silver medallions when available. If you want medallions, please add that to your order or mention it before we begin production.

 

How much do custom grips cost?

Pricing depends on:

• Firearm model

• Material

• Whether custom fitting is needed

• Medallions

• Special shaping or requests

• Rush timing, if available

• Shipping (typically included unless you'd like quicker than USPS ground)

Each grip listing includes current pricing for that model and material when available. If your request is custom or not listed, contact us for a quote.

 

How do I place an order?

If your model is listed on the website, you can order directly from the product page.
If you are unsure which product to choose, contact us first with your firearm details and photos. We would rather help confirm the correct fit before you order.
For custom quotes, we may send a direct payment link once the details are confirmed.

 

What payment methods do you accept?

Payment options may include credit card, PayPal, Zelle, or check.
If you are having trouble checking out online, contact us and we can help guide you or send a payment link when appropriate.

 

What is the custom order process?

The general process is:

• Choose your firearm model and material, or contact us if you are unsure.

• Send photos/details if needed.

• Place your order.

• Send your original grips or grip frame if required.

• We build your custom grips.

• We send photos before shipping.

• Once approved, we ship your order and send tracking.

 

Will you contact me to confirm my order details?

If clarification is needed before production begins, we will reach out.
If no additional information is required, we will proceed based on the information provided with your order and send photos of your grips before shipping.

 

Why haven’t I heard from you after placing my order?

Not all orders require follow-up before production begins.
If we need more information, we will contact you before starting your grips. If we have everything we need, your order may simply move into the production queue and we’ll contact you with pictures when your grips are ready to ship.

 

What does “turnaround time” mean?

Turnaround time is the estimated time it takes to build your grips before they ship - check here for our current timing.
Shipping time is separate and depends on your location and carrier.

 

When does turnaround time start?

Turnaround time begins once your order details are confirmed and all necessary information has been received.
If we are waiting on photos, clarification, original grips, or a grip frame, your turnaround time may not begin until those items are received.

 

Can turnaround times change?

Yes. Turnaround times are estimates and may vary due to order volume, customization details, material availability, holidays, or customer-sent items.
We keep our Turnaround Time page updated with the most current information.

 

Do you offer rush orders?

Rush orders are not guaranteed.
Orders are generally completed in the order they are confirmed so we can maintain consistent quality. If you have a specific deadline, please contact us before ordering and we will let you know if it may be possible.
Additional rush fees may apply if a rush order is available.

Do you ship internationally?

International shipping availability depends on destination and carrier restrictions.
Please contact us before ordering if you are outside the United States.

 

Where do I ship my grips or grip frame?

If we need you to ship original grips, a grip frame, or another item for fitting, we will provide the correct shipping address after confirming your order details.
Please do not ship anything before we confirm what we need.
When shipping to us, we recommend using tracking and packaging the item carefully.

 

Will you let me know when you receive my grips or frame?

Yes, we try to confirm when customer-sent items arrive.
If tracking shows delivered and you have not heard from us yet, feel free to check in. Sometimes packages arrive while we are working, with family, or away from messages, and we may not confirm immediately.

 

Do you return my original grips?

Yes. If you send original grips for pattern or fit reference, we return them unless we have specifically discussed something different with you.

 

Will I see photos before my grips ship?

Yes. We send photos before shipping so you can see the finished set before it ships to you.

Can I request changes after seeing photos?
Once you receive photos, the grips are typically ready to ship unless you requested medallions or another final detail when ordering.
If you are not happy with the finished set, contact us. In some cases, we may be able to build another set to fulfill your order, but that may take more time than originally quoted.

 

What if my grips don’t fit as expected?

If there is a fit issue, please contact us so we can review the situation and determine the best solution.
Photos or a short video may help us understand the issue. In some cases, we may need the grips or grip frame sent back for review or adjustment.

 

How do I care for antler, bone, or horn grips?

Our grips are generally low-maintenance, but we recommend avoiding harsh exposure.
Basic care tips:

• Keep gun oils and gun cleaners off the grips when possible.

• Avoid soaking grips in oil.

• Avoid alcohol-based cleaners on the grips.

• Wipe with a soft dry or lightly damp cloth.

• Avoid prolonged moisture or extreme heat.

• Keeping the grips mounted on the firearm can help them stay stable.

Some customers use a light wax, such as Renaissance wax, on certain materials. Avoid heavy oiling, especially on porous materials, because it can soak in and leave the grips feeling oily.

 

Can natural grips dry out or crack?

Natural materials can respond to moisture, dryness, heat, and handling over time. We build them with stability in mind, but they should still be treated with care.
Avoid soaking, extreme heat, and harsh chemical cleaners.
